Digital Sustainability lecture at Uni St. Gallen

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to discuss the concept of digital sustainability with a dedicated group of students attending a digital business ethics seminar ran by Dr. Thorsten Busch of the Institute for Business Ethics of the University of St. Gallen (ufka “HSG”). It was very interesting to discuss with an audience having a predominantly business background as I mostly teach at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH).

Not knowing the audience, I asked them a few questions to better understand their familiarity with some of the key terms needed to develop the concept of digital sustainability (short “digisus”. Here is what I learned:

Einfache freie Alternative zu Whatsapp für Android (3 Schritte)

Open Data event at FOSS4G-CEE in Bucharest

Last week the FOSS4G-CEE conference for Central Eastern Europe took place in Bucharest, Romania, and I was happy to be invited to speak as the Romanian Open Data community put together a whole day side event dedicated to discuss Open Data in Romania.

My presentation, “Open Data – A Global Movement in the Making” (PDF here) was designed broadly as the audience was quite diverse. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn how many activities are already going on in Romania on the side of the administration as well as the community. I hope the cooperation between them will increase even further and the launch of their national Open Data portal will be successful end of this year. A space to watch!
